Receive the Power WYD pilgrims

Guy Sebastian, Paulini and Ray Martin have joined Cardinal Pell and WYD organiser Danny Casey for the launch of Receive the Power, a 200 page record of the immensely successful World Youth Day Sydney 2008.

According to a Catholic Weekly report, Sydney's George Cardinal Pell said, “the joy and deep faith of the hundreds of thousands of young people who descended on Sydney for World Youth Day 2008 melted even the hardest of hearts".

Cardinal Pell was speaking as he launched Receive the Power, a beautiful 200 page hardbacked record of World Youth Day in Sydney. "It is customary after events of this sheer magnitude that an historical record is produced," he told a group in the Polding Centre last week. "It was my great desire that we capture the essence of World Youth Day 2008 in a quality publication at an affordable price.

WYD in Sydney Australia was an occasion that changed the way many people in Australia viewed Catholics and the Church.

The cardinal presented the first three copies of the book to singers Guy Sebastian and Paulini and TV journalist Ray Martin to thank them for their role in WYD. Cardinal Pell said, "As performers of the official WYD08 song, Receive the Power, Guy and Paulini have been long associated with WYD08".

Australian television personality Ray Martin hosted the official broadcast of World Youth Day 2008. He led a presentation team of clergy and young people to deliver the official broadcast of the week long event to the English speaking world.
