Brighton & Hove City Council: Unjust Discrimination Against Pilgrim Homes

Brighton & Hove City Council, Pilgrim Homes

Pilgrim Homes, a charity serving the elderly for more than 200 years has been unfairly discriminated against and had its funding cut by the Brighton & Hove City Council. The home refused the council’s request to ask the elderly Christian residents about their sexual orientation.

Phil Wainwright, director of human resources at Pilgrim Homes, said he was told by the council that the home must ask residents if they were lesbian, gay, bisexual, heterosexual or ‘unsure’, even if they objected. But managers at the care home told the council that meeting its demands would “unduly distress” the residents and go against their Christian ethos. They also informed the council that residents over the age of 80 in particular would regard probing from the council on sexual matters as “hostile and intrusive”.

The home also refused to use images of homosexuals in its promotional literature and show staff a Stonewall presentation on "gay rights."

The council responded by accusing the home of “institutionalised homophobia” and withdrew the £13,000 funding, which was being used to pay for warden services in sheltered housing. “Institutionalised homophobia” is just a euphemism to try and tell you that Pilgrim Homes has an irrational fear of homosexuality. This of course is rubbish. I expect many of the residents at the home know that homosexual sex is disordered and they don't want the “gay agenda” propaganda forced upon them. Many of the residents are old enough to know what modern research has confirmed. Extensive research indicates that suicide, molestation, and violence are factors found to be disproportionally high with people who identify as being homosexual.

Pilgrim Homes said it now plans to take Brighton & Hove Council to court for religious discrimination. The Christian Institute’s Mike Judge said: “Brighton Council is displaying a very prejudiced and discriminatory attitude to the religious beliefs held by the elderly residents of the home run by Pilgrim Homes.

Why not make a complaint to the council and ask them to stop discriminationg against Pilgrim Homes, re-instate their funding and keep their “gay agenda” propaganda to themselves. You might also like to remind them of the harmeful effects homosexual sex has on individuals.

Bleh. Another shining example of the "gay agenda" that supposedly doesn't exist.

People who really care about discrimination and wish to support decency in society need to contact the council and let them know.

You mean people who support discrimination toward all the right people.
