Abortion Fundamentalist MP Lee Rhiannon has called for abortion law reform, saying it should be removed from the state's Crimes Act

Lee Rhiannon, Abortion,

New South Wales Greens MP Lee Rhiannon says the current laws are out-dated and she wants the procedure to be decriminalised. Existing laws provide for up to 10 years' jail for an abortion, but there are certain circumstances when an abortion doctor can legally perform the procedure.

It was only late last year that the Victorian government, under the leadership of Premier John Brumby, made this same mistake. A bill to decriminalise abortion in Victoria was passed last October.

In a way I agree with MP Lee Rhiannon, the current laws are outdated and reform is needed. Instead of decriminalising abortion we should be making abortion illegal for all situations. Unborn children have the right to live.
