Prayer Day for Proposition 8 that marriage between one man and one woman will stand

Proposition 8

Proposition 8 was put before the people of California, and by a wide margin of 600,000 votes became a part of the California Constitution (Article 1, Section 7.5). Next Thursday, March 5, the California Supreme Court will hear oral arguments to determine whether the sovereign will of the people should be upheld, and whether marriage between only a man and a woman will stand.

ProtectMarriage.com, the committee responsible for enacting Prop 8, urges you and all our supporters to take action. We are declaring this Sunday, March 1, to be a Day of Prayer for Marriage.

Influencial Family First Senator Steve Fielding has blamed divorce for contributing to the world's ongoing problem of climate change

Climate Change, Family First, Steve Fielding, Divorce

Senator Steve Fielding said broken families had larger carbon footprints because people moved out, needed to find new accommodation and new utility services.

"We understand that there is a social problem (with divorce), but now we're seeing there is also environmental impact as well on the footprint. Mitigating the impacts of resource-inefficient lifestyles such as divorce helps to achieve global environmental sustainability and saves money."

Senator Fielding captivated his audience yesterday explaining the perils of marriage break-ups and the many benefits of sticking it out in a marriage.

Dr. Brian A. Primack of Pittsburgh University says that teenagers who listen to music with explicit sexual phrases are more likely to engage in sex

Dr. Brian A. Primack, Pittsburgh University, Sex, Teen Pregnancy

Lead researcher Dr. Brian A. Primack said, "This study demonstrates that, among this sample of young adolescents, high exposure to lyrics describing degrading sex in popular music was independently associated with higher levels of sexual behavior. "In fact, exposure to lyrics describing degrading sex was one of the strongest associations with sexual activity. These results provide further support for the need for additional research and educational intervention in this area."

The study concluded that compared to those with the least exposure to lyrics describing degrading sex, those with the most exposure were more than twice as likely to have had sexual intercourse.

This is similar to another study that found frequent exposure to TV sexual content was associated with a significantly greater likelihood of teen pregnancy.

Australian Christian Lobby has told the Committee of Law and Justice that children should be raised by a mother and father, not by same sex couples

Australian Christian Lobby, Linda Burney, Law and Justice, Homosexual, Same Sex Couples

Under NSW law, a single gay person can adopt a child but their partner is not legally recognised as a parent. The Australian Christian Lobby said a homosexual relationship did not provide a stable environment for a child.

Community Services Minister Linda Burney requested an inquiry to look at altering the NSW Adoption Act to allow same-sex couples to adopt.

ACL spokesman Lyle Shelton told the inquiry that "research shows that the most stable relationship is a married heterosexual relationship and that's where there is the least promiscuity." Mr Shelton went on to say that the move to legalise adoption by same-sex couples was ideologically driven by gay activists. "Not content with having discrimination removed, (they) are now pursuing symbolic gains and holding up children as trophies for their own agenda," he said.

Another important issue is that adopted children have the right to be adopted into a family where there is a mother and father.

Video footage of Sean Penn demonstrating his ignorance on Proposition 8 and "gay marriage"

Last year California's citizens acknowledged that marriage was between one man and one woman. Many people recognize that marriage between people of the same sex is impossible. Marriage is not a social construct but a part of human nature and no one has the power to change human nature.

Penn, in his speech said "I think that it is a good time for those who voted for the ban against gay marriage to sit and reflect and anticipate their great shame and the shame in their grandchildren’s eyes if they continue that way of support. We’ve got to have equal rights for everyone."

What is so shameful about acknowledging that marraige is between one man and one woman?

Equal rights for everyone?

We already do have equal rights with regard to marraige. Everyone is allowed to get married, no one is excluded from marraige. There are a few guidelines which everyone must follow. You can't marry your dog or your cat, someone who is already married, someone underage, your brother or sister, your mother or father, or someone of the same sex.

Watch the video and see Penn's embarrassing moment.

Pope Benedict XVI says saving humanity from homosexual or transsexual behaviour is just as important as saving the rainforest from destruction

Church, Homosexual, Pope Benedict XVI

Humanity needed to "listen to the language of creation" to understand the intended roles of man and woman. He compared behaviour beyond traditional heterosexual relations as "a destruction of God's work.” The pope went on to say, “the Church should protect man from the destruction of himself. A sort of ecology of man is needed. The tropical forests do deserve our protection. But man, as a creature, does not deserve any less."

The Catholic Church teaches that while same sex attraction is not sinful, homosexual acts are. "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved. (CCC 2357)

People suffering from a same sex attraction must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition. (CCC 2358)

The pope also defended the Church's right to "speak of human nature as man and woman, and ask that this order of creation be respected."

It is great to hear a world leader speak so accurately about the current troubles humanity is facing with regard to human sexuality. Catholic pride at its best.

Sacked Brisbane Catholic priest Fr Peter Kennedy has again defied Archbishop John Bathersby by taking part in a mass at his former parish

Archbishop John Bathersby, Fr Kennedy, St Mary's,

For many years, the Catholic parish of St Mary's, has been notorious for its continued liturgical abuses and doctrinal errors. In 2004 Archbishop John Bathersby of Brisbane took action over an invalid baptismal formula - 'Creator, Redeemer and Sanctifier' instead of 'Father, Son and Holy Spirit'. Earlier this year matters came to a head when a statue of Buddha was placed in front of the altar at St Mary's, prompting letters of complaint to the Archbishop and to the Vatican. It is also reported that he allows women to preach and homosexual couples can have their relationships blessed.

Fr Kennedy was supposed to leave the church earlier this week after receiving a letter from Archbishop Bathersby. "I have repeatedly asked for changes but you and your community have not budged an inch," he wrote. "... Time and time again St Mary's has chosen to go its own way."

Archbishop Bathersby advised Fr Kennedy that if he "wished to retire from active service, the archdiocese will assist as it does with other priests who retire". Bathersby has warned any parishioners loyal to Fr Kennedy that they will be excluded from the church if they followed the priest to any new venture. "Those who follow you should realise that they will not be in communion with the Roman Catholic Church and the Archdiocese of Brisbane," Archbishop Bathersby wrote.

For Father Kennedy and his followers personal intellect and discernment have replaced acceptance that the Holy Spirit speaks through those who are legitimately ordained superiors. Church leadership is an office of service to God, who enlightens according to Scripture and divine revelation. It is impossible for the Church to offer any teaching, no matter how popular, that does not accord with that revelation. This is the mistake Fr Kennedy and his followers have made. They have gone their won way rather than followed in the footsteps of Jesus Christ and the church he established.

Watch on video as California legislators cancel the peoples vote on Proposition 8

Proposition 8 defined marriage as between one man and one woman.

On Tuesday, The Assembly Judiciary Committee held a hearing on Proposition 8. The committee encouraged the California State Supreme Court to overturn Proposition 8. By issuing the resolution the Assembly has officially express its opposition to Proposition 8, calling for its repeal, and stating that it was an “improper revision” to the state constitution.

This negates the will of the voters. Proposition 8, was passed by a clear majority of California voters in November 2008. Fifty-two percent of California voters stood up to protect the family, which is the lynch pin of civilization.

San Diego firefighters John Ghiotto, Jason Hewitt, Alex Kane and Chad Allison compensated $34,300 for driving a fire truck in the city's "gay pride"

The four San Diego firefighters who were commanded against their wills to drive a fire truck in the city's "gay pride" parade, where they were subjected to explicit sexual advances and obscenities, have won their case.

A jury of eight women and four men deliberated for 2½ days and found that the firefighters, who were ordered to ride a fire engine in San Diego's 2007 homosexual parade, were sexually harassed by homosexual participants and spectators.

Jurors awarded a total of $34,300 to Capt. John Ghiotto and firefighters Jason Hewitt, Alex Kane and Chad Allison. The original trial, held September 22, 2008, ended in a mistrial when the jury was unable to reach a verdict on the sexual harassment claim.

Charles LiMandri, attorney and West Coast director of the Thomas More Law Center representing the firefighters, believes the city should have known from past experience, "the kind of offensive activities that go on at this event," which in this case involved obscene catcalls, genital exposure, and simulated sex acts between homosexuals.

"These men were sexually harassed in clear violation of San Diego's sexual harassment code," LiMandri said. "Further, the California Constitution's freedom of speech provision prohibits compelled speech. What the firefighters were ordered to do was endorse what goes on at this parade through their participation in it."

"Government employees should never be forced to participate in events or acts that violate their sincerely held beliefs," LiMandri explained. "We are pleased with the jury's verdict recognizing the firefighters' right to abstain from activities that they consider morally offensive and that subject them to harassment."

Capt. Ghiotto told reporters outside the courthouse, "About 98% of people on the job agreed with what we were doing. We felt unless we stood up for ourselves, it was going to happen again."

Pope Benedict XVI rebukes Nancy Pelosi telling her Catholics are obligated to protect life from conception to natural death

Nancy Pelosi, Pope Benedict XVI, Abortion, Catholic

The Vatican Press Office released a note this morning detailing part of the conversation which Pope Benedict XVI had with Nancy Pelosi the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The Vatican note reads: "His Holiness took the opportunity to speak of the requirements of the natural moral law and the Church's consistent teaching on the dignity of human life from conception to natural death which enjoin all Catholics, and especially legislators, jurists and those responsible for the common good of society, to work in cooperation with all men and women of good will in creating a just system of laws capable of protecting human life at all stages of its development."

Vatican correspondent John Allen, who writes for the National Catholic Reporter, noted that "routine Vatican declarations after diplomatic meetings also generally sum up the range of issues discussed rather than concentrating on a particular point. In that sense, the statement can only be read as a rejection of Pelosi's statements last summer, and, in general, of her argument that it's acceptable for Catholics in public life to take a pro-choice position."

Allen also noted that "by issuing an unusual public statement after the session with Pelosi -- which insisted that all Catholics, including legislators, are obliged to work for the defense of human life from conception to natural death -- the pope also made clear there will no let-up in the pressure on pro-choice Catholic politicians to change their ways."

Many pro-life organizations from the US and Canada expressed their serious concerns to the Holy See that Mrs. Pelosi was going to be received by the Holy Father. Some of these organizations sent to different Vatican authorities comprehensive memoranda in which they showed in a detailed and precise way the anti-life statements and the pro-death voting record of Mrs. Pelosi.

Catholic sources in Rome, who asked to remain anonymous, said they were "very much encouraged by this statement," saying that it shows that the "Holy Father is ready to stand up with courage to politicians that claim they are Catholics but their voting record denies those hypocritical assertions."

Australia and Northern Ireland will join with well over 100 cities in the United States and Canada that are hosting 40 Days for Life

40 Days for Life, Abortion

40 Days for Life is a community-based campaign that draws attention to the evil of abortion through the use of a three-point program: prayer and fasting, constant vigil and community outreach.

The 40 Days for Life Campaign was started in 2004 by a pro-life group in Texas. Over the following years it spread across the USA and Canada. This year, two cities in Northern Ireland and one in Australia are also taking part.

Director of Precious Life, Bernadette Smyth said, "This Lent, from Ash Wednesday to Palm Sunday, communities across Ireland and Britain will be uniting with more than 127 cities in the USA, Canada and Australia for the largest simultaneous pro-life mobilisation in history - The 40 Days for Life Campaign. We will be praying and fasting for the protection of Ireland from abortion and the repeal of the 1967 Abortion Act in Britain."

She added, "During the 40 Day Campaign, Precious Life will also encourage more people to join Prayer Vigils outside abortion facilities. Here in Northern Ireland, we are urging people to join our daily vigils outside the Family Planning Association's (FPA) abortion referral agencies in Belfast and Derry."

US 40 Days for Life spring campaign director Shawn Carney said the enthusiasm for the upcoming campaign is growing across the country and around the world. "As the country marks the 36th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court ruling that imposed abortion on the United States, as well as the inauguration of the most outspokenly pro-abortion president in American history, pro-life advocates in some 118 cities across 41 states - plus four Canadian provinces and Australia - have great hope," said Carney. "They're all preparing to participate in simultaneous 40 Days for Life campaigns."

The campaign dates of February 25 through April 5 coincide with the Christian season of Lent. "It's a perfect match," said Carney. "Lent is a season of prayer, fasting, repentance and renewal. It is our prayer that the efforts of the thousands of people who will participate in 40 Days for Life in their home towns will touch hearts and minds, save lives - and show that extreme pro-abortion policies do not resonate with the values of this nation."

40 Days for Life in Australia will take place in Brisbane this Lent with the vigil being kept at the Planned Parenthood of Australia abortion mill located at 8 Campbell Street, Bowen Hills, Brisbane, Queensland. Contact Brendan Wong at 07 3305 0104 or email her at 40DaysBrisbane@gmail.com for information.

Does Watching Sex on Television Predict Teen Pregnancy? Video with Dr Anita Chandra

RAND researchers examined the link between teen pregnancy and exposure to sexual content on TV. The study found that frequent exposure to TV sexual content was associated with a significantly greater likelihood of teen pregnancy in the following three years.

I wrote about this recently."Exposure to Sex on TV May Increase the Chance of Teen Pregnancy"

Here is a short video of Dr Anita Chandra talking about the findings.

A study last year by the RAND Corporation found that making a virginity pledge may help some young people postpone the start of sexual activity

Marc N. Elliott, Rebecca L. Collins, David E. Kanouse, Sandra H. Berry, RAND, Virginity Pledge, Journal of Adolescent Health

The researchers, Marc N. Elliott, Rebecca L. Collins, David E. Kanouse and Sandra H. Berry, found that adolescents who made pledges to remain virgins until they are married were less likely to be sexually active over the three-year study period. More so than other youth who were similar to them, but who did not make a virginity pledge, according to the study published online by the Journal of Adolescent Health.

While several previous studies have examined the impact of virginity pledges, the RAND Health study was uniquely designed to account for pre-existing difference between pledgers and non-pledgers on factors such as religiosity, parenting and friendship characteristics. The study tested the impact of virginity pledges by comparing pledgers with young people who had not made a pledge, but shared other characteristics with pledgers.

Researchers surveyed 1,461 adolescent virgins aged 12 to 17 in 2001 and reinterviewed participants one and three years later. About one-fourth of the group reported during the initial survey that they had made a virginity pledge.

Forty-two percent of those who did not make virginity pledges but were otherwise similar to those who did started sexual intercourse within three years, while just 34 percent of those who made virginity pledges reported having sexual intercourse within the same period.

“Making a pledge to remain a virgin until married may provide extra motivation to adolescents who want to delay becoming sexually active,” Martino said. “The act of pledging may create some social pressure or social support that helps them to follow through with their clearly stated public intention.”

Some researchers have speculated that abstaining from intercourse might increase participation in other sexual activities, like oral sex. But the RAND study found that those who pledged were no more likely to engage in non-intercourse behaviors than comparable youth who did not take a pledge.

“Waiting until you are older to have sex is good for teens from a health standpoint,” Martino said. “There are lots of reasons for more kids to wait until they are older.”

People who delay sex until they are older are less likely to have unintended pregnancies or contract a sexually transmitted disease, and are better equipped emotionally for the experience, according to researchers.

“Virginity pledges must be made freely for them to work,” Martino said. “If young people are coerced or are unduly influenced by peer pressure, virginity pledges are not likely to have a positive effect.”

Previous studies have suggested that adolescents who make virginity pledges may be less likely to use condoms during their first act of sexual intercourse. In the RAND study, adolescents who made virginity pledges but eventually had sex did not report lower condom use. But the RAND study only asked participants about condom use in the past year, not whether they used condoms the first time they had sex.

New video: families defy “Education for Citizenship and Human Rights” which promotes homosexual indoctrination

Education for Citizenship and Human Rights, Homosexual,

Spanish families who are resisting their government's mandatory homosexual indoctrination program have made a video expressing their defiance.

"Freedom begins with defiance" the video begins. It then includes scenes of adults, teenagers, and children expressing their rejection of the classes, which are being given as a required civics course in the nation's schools, both public and private.

"We're not giving in" says one mother. "We're not going to enter the classes," say two teenagers. "We're going to continue fighting ... for our freedom and the freedom of all," say two groups of families.

The video has appeared in the wake of a recent decision by the Spanish Supreme Court, which has not been formally announced yet, but which purportedly confirms that the government may compel students to take the course, which is entitled "Education for Citizenship and Human Rights."

Although the course is billed as a type of civics instruction, it has been criticized for promoting secularist values strongly opposed to Christianity, including homosexual ideology.

The course seeks to lead children to make a "critical evaluation of the social and sexual division of labor and racist, xenophobic, sexist, and homophobic social prejudices" and instructs teachers to "revise the student's attitude towards homosexuality." It also inculcates students with moral relativism, basing ethical standards on the opinions of society rather than religious teaching or unchanging natural law.

Despite the national Supreme Court's decision, families and even whole provinces are continuing to defy the government's attempt to impose the program. The Madrid association, Parents in Action, has recently filed over 130 new objections to Education for Citizenship, which may also be tested in the courts. The province of Andalucia's Supreme Court of Justice has also recently ruled in favor of conscientious objectors, ignoring the national Supreme Court's decision.

Robert Pleva has made tremendous strides after receiving his own stem cells to treat his heart disease

Robert was treated by Dr. Grekos using his own Adult Stem Cells in June 2008. In January 2009, 6 months later, Robert’s life has turned 180 degrees. His ejection fraction has improved from 28% to 44% and he is no longer facing a heart transplant.

There are two types of stem cells, “adult” and “embryonic”. Embryonic stem cells come from an embryo. The taking of these cells is fatal but taking adult stems does not cause the death of the person. Adult stem cells are found in many parts of the body, the most common of these "adult stem cells” are found in the blood. There are similar cells in the liver, in nervous systems, and all around the body.

Dr. Manfred Voigt Study finds that having an abortion increases the risk of giving birth prematurely with future pregnancies

Dr. Manfred Voigt, Abortion, Abortion Very Preterm Birth

Dr. Manfred Voigt and his German colleagues evaluated over two million pregnancies between 1995 and 2000, making the 2008 study the most massive AVP (Abortion Very Preterm Birth) study in the last 30 years.

The control group of women in the study had no history of induced abortion, miscarriage or stillbirths. The rate of premature births in the control group was compared to that of three separate groups: women with abortions in their medical history (but no miscarriages or stillbirths), women with only miscarriages in their history, and women with only stillbirths in their history.

According to the Reduce Preterm Risk Coalition, the study found that for a woman with one prior abortion, the risk of having a future premature birth was boosted by 30%. More than one prior abortion increased the relative premature birth risk by 90%.

Premature birth raises a child's risk for cerebral palsy, mental retardation, epilepsy, visual impairment, hearing disability, gastrointestinal injury, respiratory distress, and severe infections. Those born under 28 week's gestation have 129 times the risk of cerebral palsy as a full-term newborn, according to 2008 study by Dr. Eveline Himpens et al.

In the Winter 2008 issue of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons, Brent Rooney (MSc), Dr. Byron Calhoun, and lawyer Lisa Roche revealed that black American women, who abort nearly one out of every two children, are at three times higher risk for giving birth prematurely, and four times higher risk for giving birth extremely prematurely.

Abortion should be made illegal and government funding of abortion stopped in light of strong evidence for the procedure's dangerous effects on women and children.

“Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Family” campaign that invites homosexuals, bisexuals and transsexuals to adopt children

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation has partnered with the California Department of Social Services and the Los Angeles County to promote a “Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Family” campaign that invites homosexuals, bisexuals and transsexuals to adopt children.

Sacramento is facing a $42 billion deficit and a state debt that grows by $28,000 every minute, California has managed to find enough room in its budget to sponsor an elaborate statewide campaign to promote homosexual adoption.

Why is California giving children away to gay couples? Children need a mother and father not two mothers or two fathers. Why is California pushing the issue and giving money it doesn’t have to promote the gay agenda? The people of California reject the idea of "homosexual marriage" as was witnessed by the recent yes on Proposition 8 which defined marriage as between one man and one woman.

Steven Kotler from the Psychology Today blog ignores global aging and claims that adults should stop having children in order to save the environment

Those who are having kids, are being selfish and stealing from the future, the rest of humanity, and “every living thing on the earth,” he wrote. Have too many kids and you should go to jail.

He is a best selling author and an advocate of controlling population growth. His latest solution: a five-year moratorium on having kids. Kotler’s reasoning is that the planet is running out of resources. “You think the economy is bad now – wait a few years,” Kotler said. “Wait until we’re almost completely out of oil and food and water and available land ... we need to lose 4.4 billion people and we need to lose them fast.”

Steven Kotler has failed to take into account the greed of a few who use too many resources and pillage the earth while ignoring the serious problem of global aging.

Last year the United Nations released its global population estimates, revealing an alarming population shift that will have serious worldwide consequences within the near future. The report projects that by 2050, those aged 60 and over will comprise one third of the population in developed regions. These numbers will have a serious effect on the working population, which will be forced to bear an increasingly heavy burden of retirees. Global aging, combined with plummeting birth rates, is a catastrophically dangerous menace that only a few people seem to be waking up to.

This video describes how the slowdown in the growth of the number of children coupled with the steady increase in the number of older persons has deeply impacted the balance of society.

Pilgrim Homes, a Christian nursing home has had its funding restored after being unfairly discriminated against due to its views on homosexuality

Pilgrim Homes, Brighton Hove city council, Homosexual, Christian

In January, it was revealed that Brighton & Hove city council had revoked a £13,000 grant to Pilgrim Homes, Brighton, after elderly residents had refused to answer questions about their “sexual orientation,” saying the questions were “intrusive.” The residents were branded as being “closed to the gay community” by the council, and the home was accused of being guilty of “institutionalised homophobia.”

The term homophobic refers to fear of homosexuality. This term often is used by homosexual activists to end rational discussion of the issue by accusing their opponents of having an irrational fear. This is unjust. One can disagree with and be critical of a behavior without having a fear of it. When the charge of "homophobia" is made, it signifies that those making the accusation do not have reasoned responses to their critics, so they switch to portraying their critics as irrational rather than responding to their arguments.

The questionnaire that led to the controversy, asked them to reveal whether they were “lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or unsure” of their sexuality. The council also had plans to invite the homosexual activist organisation Stonewall to make a presentation at the home and had instructed the charity to include depictions of homosexuals in its promotional literature.

Andrew Jessop, chief executive of the charity, which has 10 Christian homes across the UK, said he was “delighted” that the council had backed down. Elderly Christians shouldn’t be penalised just because of their religious beliefs. Christians pay their taxes too and they should have equal access to public grants without being required to drop their Christian ethos.”

Stem Cells improve circulation in Diabetes patients with Peripheral Artery Disease at Sri Ramachandra Medical College Hospital, India

In a study presented at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation in New York last month, doctors treated 34 patients with Peripheral Vascular Disease with their own adult stem cells taken from their bone marrow. Most of them had circulation restored in their legs.

In these cases, the doctors are out of options and the next step is amputation. Adult Stem Cells give these patients one more option. They are making injections of the patient’s own stem cells using a simple syringe into the legs. It is putting the patient’s own stem cells into the area where they are needed and the Repair Stem Cells do what they are ”born to do” - repair damage and restore function.

There are two types of stem cells, “adult” and “embryonic”. Embryonic stem cells come from an embryo. The taking of these cells is fatal but taking adult stems does not cause the death of the person. Dr Suzanne Belton of Charles Darwin University claims that 40% of all obstetric care in East Timor was treating complications from pregnancy loss

Midwives East Timor Australia, Dr Suzanne Belton, Charles Darwin University, Maternal Mortality, Unplanned Pregnancy and Unsafe Abortion in Timor-Leste: A Situational Analysis, Abortion title=

Dr Belton said that 40 per cent of all emergency obstetric care was managing and treating complications from early pregnancy losses. The report suggests that some of the deaths may be attributed to abortion although the proportion of deaths due to abortion was unknown.

The study entitled, Maternal Mortality, Unplanned Pregnancy and Unsafe Abortion in Timor-Leste: A Situational Analysis, was presented as a part of East Timor’s Institute of Health Sciences’ first Congress on Health Sciences in early December 2008 in Dili. The research was funded and commissioned by The United Nations Population Fund and managed in collaboration with Alola Foundation.

Midwives East Timor Australia” a group which aims to support non-government organisations to help reduce the maternal and neonatal mortality rate, claim that only 10% of pregnant women in East Timor give birth with the assistance of a qualified midwife.

The maternal and neonatal mortality rate in east Timor is 100 times that of Australia. One of the reasons for such a high level of maternal problems is the low utilisation of skilled assistance for pre-natal care, birth and post-natal care. It would seem that better pre natal health care is needed in East Timor in order to reduce the mortality rate of pregnant women.

Beyond the Dark Valley is a 30 minute video documentary that is compelling testimonies of women and men who have been devastated by abortion

Beyond the Dark Valley, co-produced by The Justice Foundation (TJF) as part of its Operation Outcry project. The American Family Association (AFA) has partnered with TJF to help bring hope and healing to men, women and families damaged by abortion.

According to Tracy Reynolds, producer of the documentary’s parent series, Faces of Abortion, “This compelling program tells three stories of women and men who have been harmed by abortion, includes medical and scientific evidence and encourages anyone who is hurting to call the National Helpline for Abortion Recovery and receive hope and healing through a program in their area.”

Beyond the Dark Valley is co-hosted by Olympic swimmer Josh Davis and post-abortive mother Molly White who take viewers on an informative journey from death to life while correcting common myths about abortion. Real-life experiences reveal the reality of abortion and how its consequences affect more than just the woman and child.

Although the damage is deep and dark, the future can be bright for those who are forgiven and set free by Christ.

Archbishop John Bathersby will sack Fr Peter Kennedy, parish priest of St Mary's Catholic Church South Brisbane, he is advising the priest to retire

The news was contained in a letter sent by Archbishop Bathersby to Fr Kennedy, marking the church's formal response to a long-running dispute with Fr Kennedy. Archbishop Bathersby wrote that Dean Ken Howell from St Stephen's Cathedral in the CBD would be made temporary administrator of St Mary's from February 21.

In the letter, Archbishop Bathersby said it gave him no pleasure to terminate Father Kennedy's appointment. But he said there was no reason for further discussion of the decision.

"I have repeatedly asked for changes but you and community have not budged an inch," he wrote.
"... Time and time again St Mary's has chosen to go its own way."
The archbishop said he realised he could not stop the parish forming a breakaway Christian community elsewhere in Brisbane, but it would not be in communion with the Roman Catholic Church.

St Mary's parish steering committee today vowed that it would be business as usual from February 21, insisting Fr Kennedy would stay on and parishioners would pay his stipend from the regular money collection take up during masses. Fr Kennedy did not reveal his plans today but again urged the Archbishop to change his mind and to meet with parishioners.

Last week Catholic Archbishop of Sydney, Cardinal George Pell said he was a "friend and supporter" of Brisbane Archbishop John Bathersby, who will rule on whether to expel St Mary's priest Father Peter Kennedy and his supporters from the South Brisbane church."I'm a friend and supporter of Archbishop Bathersby and I wish him well in a very difficult situation," he said.

I hope and pray that Fr Kennedy and his followers give up their heretical beliefs and return to the church. Thank you Archbishop Bathersby for your wisdom and strength in this difficult situation.

Cry for Life present model fetuses to halt abortion

Abortion, Fetuses, Cry for Life

The two inch long model represents a fetus at ten weeks of actual length and weight. At four weeks the heart of the unborn beats; the model shows that it is a child with hands, feet and a nose even able to bring it finger to its mouth.

The secular Dutch press picked up rumors that Cry for Life intended to distribute the model fetuses to all homes and condemned the plan as hurtful to women who had had abortions, miscarriages or were not able to conceive.

We are constantly told that it’s a "woman’s choice"; that it’s "just a blob of tissue"; that it’s "not a human being" until at least viable. So why should it hurt a woman to see this non-human, blob of tissue that it was her decision to get rid of?

Exposure to Sex on TV May Increase the Chance of Teen Pregnancy

Sex, Teen Pregnancy, RAND, MTV

RAND researchers examined the link between teen pregnancy and exposure to sexual content on TV. The study found that frequent exposure to TV sexual content was associated with a significantly greater likelihood of teen pregnancy in the following three years.

Teen pregnancy remains a serious problem in the United States. Although rates have declined since 1991 around the time abstinence education became popular, the United States still has the highest rate of teen pregnancy among industrialized nations. A majority of these pregnancies are unplanned.

The researchers suggested that
  • TV industry leaders should examine how programming can include messages to teens about the consequences of sexual activity.
  • Parents need to monitor their teens' TV viewing and provide education about the consequences of sex.
I guess shows like MTV are out then.

Claire Moore of The Parliamentary Group on Population Development claims disabled people are expensive and Medicare should continue to fund abortion

Parliamentary Group on Population & Development, Claire Moore, Chris Meney, Abortion, Medicare

The Parliamentary Group on Population & Development made a submission in late 2008 advocating the financial benefits of aborting handicapped persons because of the costs which will result if they are allowed to be born. Senator Claire Moore, argued that disabled people are expensive to look after and therefore Medicare should continue to fund late abortions.

Chris Meney of Sydney Life, Marriage and Family Centre said, "Such a 'search and destroy' attitude towards the needy and vulnerable is repugnant to a decent society. Instead we should look to do whatever we can to assist mothers who are with child and to promote maternal health especially in countries without any social security and where high child mortality already threaten to undermine the necessary care and assistance provided by younger persons to elderly parents and grandparents.”

"In the words of the Harvard Law Professor Mary Ann Glendon, 'All who are genuinely committed to the advancement of women know that society can and must offer a woman or girl who is pregnant, frightened, and alone, a better alternative than the destruction of her own unborn child'."

Mr Meney says there are sound reasons to continue to focus our foreign aid dollars on improved sanitation and on medical and maternal support services and to avoid funding abortions. "Studies of maternal deaths in Finland in 1997 found aborting women were 252 percent more likely to die than those who chose to deliver their baby. Subsequent controlled studies published by the Elliot Institute in the US led a lead author, Dr Reardon, to comment that "abortion is clearly associated with a worsening of mental health and higher mortality rates."

Australian Government officials confirmed in Estimates Committee hearings last year that Australia had not been approached by any overseas countries to fund abortion. There appears to be an ideological drive by those associated with the Parliamentary Group on Population and Development.

Foreign Minister Stephen Smith is still under pressure from Sarah Hanson-Young to direct AusAID to support abortion and contraception

Abortion politician Senator Sarah Hanson-Young said US President Barack Obama's recent decision to direct some of its aid to support abortion and contraception meant Australia was now the only country which spent all of its aid for the purpose of eradicating poverty.

Senator Hanson-Young urged the Rudd Government to ''stand up for women's rights by immediately abolishing the family planning guidelines that prevent Australia AusAID money from being spent on contraception''. Abortion politicians like Hanson-Young don't seem to realise that these women don't need contraception they need fresh water, fresh food, housing and medical treatment.

Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said the Government remained committed to its ambitious target of increasing aid to 0.5 per cent of gross national income by 2015. ''This remains our very strong commitment irrespective of international financial and economic difficulties,'' he said. Australia will provide $3.7 billion for overseas aid this financial year. The ratio of aid to GNI for 2008-09 is estimated at 0.32 per cent, an increase from 0.3 per cent the previous year.

Media reports quote Senator Sarah Hanson-Young saying Australia’s ban on AusAID money for abortion costs 34,000 mothers’ lives in the Pacific region each year. Trained midwives, blood supplies and clean birthing environments will save far more lives than abortion clinics in the third world could.

Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) Managing Director Jim Wallace said “If abortion politicians really wanted to help the poor, there are more urgent priorities than exporting abortion.” Senate Estimates was told last year there has not been one request from a recipient country of AusAID to have our aid re-directed to abortion. “These countries want our help to save mothers’ lives through better maternal heath, not killing their babies. Mothers and babies can be saved through aid targeted at improving birthing facilities, not providing abortion clinics,” Mr Wallace said.

This video demonstrates that Planned Parenthood ignores state laws and covers up the sexual abuse of young girls

Rose and her friend Jackie Stollar enter a Tucson Planned Parenthood clinic where Rose tells the nurse that Stollar, posing as a 15-year-old, is pregnant by her 27-year-old boyfriend.

The nurse disregards the age difference and goes as far as cautioning Stollar not to bring her “boyfriend” before the judicial hearing required in Arizona to waive parental consent for an abortion.

Arie Hoekman of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has declared that the breakdown of traditional families is a triumph for human rights

Abortion, UNFPA, Arie Hoekman, United Nations Population Fund, Contraception, Human Rights

Last month in Mexico City, Arie Hoekman denounced the idea that high rates of divorce and out-of-wedlock births represent a social crisis, claiming that they represent instead the triumph of “human rights” against “patriarchy.”

Leonardo Casco, a member of the Pontifical Council for the Family responded that UNFPA bureaucrats “have invented a series of new 'human rights',” that did not exist when the concept was defined in 1948, “with which they wish to justify all of their actions. They definitely have to deny that there is a crisis in the family, because they have created the crisis," he said. Calling the UNFPA "bureaucrats at the service of death," Casco observed that "after 45 years of birth control, the pill, disrespect for marriage for the family, for children, etc, this is the result. Because of that we have violence, war, lack of respect of women, children."

The UNFPA recently celebrated the restoration of US support after seven years, during which they were denied funding by the Bush administration. UNFPA has cooperated with and even helped to subsidize China's One Child Policy, which persecutes and performs forced abortions on women who have more than one child. UNFPA has also helped to administer forced sterilizations in South America and is involved in the distribution and promotion of contraceptives and sterilization worldwide, with a focus on poorer countries.

Through their promotion and distribution of contraceptives the UNFPA has become "a birth control agency at the service of the most powerful countries" said Casco. "They have destroyed the family, values, this is undeniable, it's what everyone says ... but they always have to deny it."

In January the World Meeting of Families, strongly reaffirmed the importance of the traditional family and its indispensible role in transmitting values to the next generation. It was opened by Mexican President Felipe Calderon, who observed that high rates of divorce and out-of-wedlock births were contributing to the rise of violence and crime in Mexico.

Jonathan Porritt chairman of Britain's Sustainable Development Commission said that couples who have more than two children are “irresponsible.”

Jonathan Porritt, Sustainable Development Commission, Abortion, Contraception, Environment, Global Aging

According to Jonathan Porritt abortion and contraception are the preferred solutions to the world’s environmental problems. Porritt said, “I think we will work our way towards a position that says that having more than two children is irresponsible.”

A report by the commission, to be published next month, will say that governments must reduce population growth through better “family planning,” (which means abortion and contraception) even if it means reducing funding for curing illness. Porritt said that a focus of his work will be to urge environmentalist groups to make population control a part of their lobbying efforts.

In June this year, the Optimum Population Trust said that a “voluntary population policy” should be imposed in British law. In 2007, the Trust, reacting to news of a slight increase in the British birth rate, said that the government must institute a two-child policy, similar to that of the People’s Republic of China.

Meanwhile demographers continue to warn of an onrushing, and virtually irreversible, demographic collapse in Europe because of the aging of the European population.

Last year the United Nations released its global population estimates, revealing an alarming population shift that will have serious worldwide consequences within the near future. The blame lies on the rapid spread of abortion, contraception and sterilization in the past century.

In his book “Towards a Theology of the Environment”, Fr. Paul Haffner, an author and professor of theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, said this kind of anti-human thinking is typical of what he calls the materialist “ecologism” ideology that values “the earth” or the environment more than human life.

Perhaps it is time the west started living a simpler lifestyle and using less resources rather than trying to live with only a few people who live an extravagant lifestyle.

Abortion and Contraception: the Causes of Global Aging
Demographic Winter

Anzac Research Institute professor, Rob McLachlan, of Concord Hospital, will begin testing a new contraceptive injection for men

Contraception, Anzac Research Institute, Concord Hospital, Contraceptive Injection, Contraceptive Pill, Rob McLachlan

Testing the new male contraceptive injection will begin from today. Earlier studies have found the injection works in 95 per cent of men who can become fully fertile again three months after they stop having the injections.

Lead researcher Professor Rob McLachlan said the treatment kept men's testosterone levels normal while the progestin fooled the brain into not producing hormones needed to stimulate sperm production. It works exactly like the female contraceptive pill by shutting down the reproductive function. The contraceptive tricks the brain into thinking it has already produced sperm, without affecting men's sexuality.

This type of research is a waste of time, money and is immoral. Contraception has created a horror scenario of plunging birth rates and a separation between sexuality and reproduction.

Last year the United Nations released its global population estimates, revealing an alarming population shift that will have serious worldwide consequences within the near future. The blame lies on the rapid spread of abortion, contraception and sterilization in the past century.

The report projects that by 2050, those aged 60 and over will comprise one third of the population in developed regions. Global aging, combined with plummeting birth rates, is a catastrophically dangerous menace that only a few people seem to be waking up to.

Contraception has developed an anti life mentality within society. People are no longer generous enough to have an average or even large family. Natural Family Planning solves this problem. It allows for the spacing and numbering of children within a family without generating an underlying “fear” of having children or having too many children.

Radical homosexuals launch a campaign of hate against California's Proposition 8 supports which defined marriage as between one man and one woman

It is expected that discrimination, harassment and intimidation will continue after a federal judge denied a request to keep private the names of donors to the cause. The judge's ruling upheld California's campaign finance law, which specifies that information on political campaign donations be made public.

Douglas McDermott, president of McDermott Financial and Insurance in Sacramento, donated $15,000 to the Prop. 8 campaign in September. While his business hasn't been targeted, McDermott said some angry callers have left threatening messages. "You get telephone calls, you get threats," McDermott told FOXNews.com. "Ask anyone — If you've donated, your name is published everywhere, all over California. That's what's happening."

Another donor, who asked to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals, said employees at his California real estate development and investment company received an anonymous e-mail in October outing him as someone who gave $30,000 to support Proposition 8. "Did you know you work for a judgmental bigot? I know I could not work for someone who encourages bigotry and hate," the e-mail read. "Something like that isn't the nicest thing to get when you come into the office on a Monday," the executive told FOXNews.com. "Another fellow left a message on my voicemail saying, 'What goes around comes around, and now you're going to experience the comes around part. Have fun.'

Both men said they're worried that the harassment will continue in the wake of Thursday's ruling by U.S. District Judge Morrison England. Attorneys for the Prop 8 campaign have indicated they plan to appeal. An official for the Yes on 8 campaign has said another 1,600 donors will be put at risk with the release of the reports on Monday.

Brian Brown, executive director for the National Organization for Marriage California, said stopping the disclosure of smaller donors is the group's "main concern." The names of major donors already have been disclosed on the secretary of state's Web site. "I am worried that more threats and intimidation is going to occur because of [the judge's] decision," Brown said. "But this isn't the end of the line." Brown said he's particularly troubled by a Web site that shows a map of donors, how much they donated and when.

These are things that should not happen in a democracy. People should not be harassed for their beliefs about marriage. People shouldn't have to choose between their safety and supporting what they believe in.

Sycloria Williams had an abortion in 2006: It is alleged that baby Shanice was born alive and then murdered by abortion clinic owner, Belkis Gonzalez

Sycloria Williams, Abortion, Belkis Gonzalez, Born Alive

Sycloria Williams decided to abort the child after experiencing abdominal pain and bleeding. She visited the Miramar Woman Center in Miramar, Fla., where she was referred to abortionist Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacque Renelique. Dr. Renelique inserted laminaria sticks to dilate the cervix and prescribed additional medication to be taken that night in preparation for the procedure the next morning at a Hialeah clinic.

Williams arrived at the Hialeah clinic on the morning of July 20, 2006, feeling ill and in severe pain from the medication the night before. Dr. Renelique was not present at the clinic nor did anyone else at the clinic have any form of medical license.

Williams waited for hours in severe and increasing abdominal pain without medical staff available. She began to position herself as the chemically-induced labor progressed. The staff instructed her to “keep your legs together and sit down.”

Williams braced herself with the arms of the recliner chair she was sitting on. As she lifted herself, her water broke and she delivered a live baby girl onto the seat of the recliner. The baby writhed and gasped for air, still connected to Williams by the umbilical cord. Immobilized by shock, Williams watched Gonzalez run into the room, cut the umbilical cord with a pair of orange-handled shears, stuff the baby and afterbirth into a red biohazard bag and throw the bag into a garbage can.

After an anonymous tip police got a search warrant and found the decomposing baby in a cardboard box in a closet at the clinic. DNA linked the baby’s remains to Williams.
