Peter FitzSimons of the Sydney Morning Herald gets a dressing down over remarks about the pope.

Peter FitzSimons yesterday in the Sydney Morning Herald launched an attack on the Catholic Church and the Pope, suggesting people who follow the Pope’s and thus the Church’s teaching on moral issues are ‘brainwashed from birth’.

The first mistake FitzSimons makes is assuming that there is a consensus that condoms are the solution to the AIDS crisis. There is no such consensus among scientists and community leaders, and to place criticism upon a group and a person for an issue which has not been concluded is unfair and wrong.
